The Sierra de Irta is undoubtedly one of the most recognisable enclaves on the coast of Castellón, an authentic natural wall that plunges directly into the sea along the coast from Alcossebre to Peñíscola, and which has witnessed a multitude of historical events, especially those related to piracy. From the coast, at the well-known Playa de las Fuentes beach, so called because of its freshwater springs that emerge at sea level, we will ascend to the hermitage of Santa Lucía, one of the first watchtowers of the Sierra de Irta, from where we will crest the first foothills of these coastal mountains up to the Esbrí tower, the highest point of the route. From here we will start the descent to Argilaga cove to discover the picturesque landscape of the beaches of Alcossebre, made up of perfectly rounded pebbles and millions of fragments of molluscs, to return by taking a pleasant stroll along the coast to the starting point.
